Karlyn Dickens was named an assistant volleyball coach at Dallas College North Lake in July 2024.

In her first year in 2024, Dickens coached on a staff that guided North Lake to a fifth place finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III national tournament. It was the first time in program history the Blazers qualified for the national tournament. The Blazers went 22-18 overall, 6-4 in the Dallas Athletic Conference, advancing to the NJCAA Division III South District championship for the second straight year. Shi'Miria Phillips was an NJCAA Division III Third Team All-American.

Dickens began coaching club volleyball for ages 12-18 in the North Texas Reegion in 2023.

Dickens was a middle hitter at Blinn College in 2017-18. Her team won the conference championship with a 9-1 record.
