Wendorf Claims DAC Pitcher of Week Award

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's Matthew Wendorf was chosen as the Dallas Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.

It is the third time he's received the league's weekly award.

A freshman left hander from Bedford, Texas, Wendorf pitched seven shutout innings, allowing six hits and two walks, while striking out three to pick up the win over Dallas College Brookhaven, which was receiving votes in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll.

Wendorf improved to 4-2 with a 3.32 earned run average and 28 strikeouts in 14 appearances this season. He has one save.

North Lake, which was also receiving votes in the national rankings, will take a 17-25 overall, 8-10 DAC record into this week. The Blazers host Cisco College in a nonconference game at noon Monday before beginning a three-game series against Dallas College Cedar Valley noon Wednesday at home. The final two games of the series against the Suns are scheduled to be played in Lancaster, Texas.
