IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's seventh-ranked men's basketball team beat sixth-ranked Dallas College Eastfield 90-80 Monday night in a milestone win for head coach Josh Mills

Mills captured his 100th career win as a head coach. He won 15 games as an interim head coach at Ranger College in 2016-17.

In a game that was made up from last week's weather postponements, the Blazers shot 50 percent from the field and from beyond the three-point line. North Lake made 25 of 50 field goals, including 7 of 14 from the 3-point line. The Blazers shot 71.7 percent from the free throw stripe, sinking 33 of 46.

North Lake (15-8, 7-2 Dallas Athletic Conference) has won four in a row, and improved to 10-1 at home. The win moved the Blazers a game ahead of Eastfield (14-8, 6-3) in the conference standings, with each team winning on its home floor. They will meet again Feb. 14 at Eastfield in the final regular season meeting between the two teams.

Santana Spivey finished with a season-high 28 points and five three-point field goals, and matched his personal best with eight rebounds. He was one of four Blazers starters in double figures. Zach Thompson had 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Zaedyn Owens had 16 points, a season-high 12 boards and two steals, shooting 6 of 8 from the field. It was his third double-double of the season. Jordan Edwards had 15 points.

The Blazers, who led 40-32 at halftime, grabbed 43 rebounds – one under their season average.

North Lake will host No. 1 Dallas College Richland (16-6, 9-0) at 6 p.m. Wednesday to finish the second round of league play.
